Character AI Alternatives: 8 Services for Users in Russia and How to Pick One

First, a word on who writes these roundups

Almost every "best alternatives" list is written by someone in the market, and they put themselves at number one. We run a character service too, so we won't pretend to be neutral. Instead of a ranking, here are facts from the services' own sites and an availability test from September 29, 2026. Choose based on those.

What you lose on Character AI

1. Russian. The interface is in English, and characters often speak Russian like translated subtitles.
2. Access. The site doesn't load everywhere or every time.
3. Payment. Getting a subscription from Russia is hard.
4. The filter. Strict rules cut scenes short even when there's nothing explicit in them.
5. The catalog. Millions of characters, but finding a well-made one in Russian is a quest of its own.

8 alternatives: the facts as of September 2026

1. Frendi AIMade in Russia, native Russian. Card payment, prices visible only after you log in, every plan auto-renews, and there are no refunds for unused time. Positioned as an adult service, but with filters and an eye on Russian law. A catalog of over 16,000 characters, and you can make your own. Free: 30 messages a day.
2. LikotekaNative Russian, pay by card or SBP. Explicit content is banned by the rules. You can create your own characters and set up rooms with several characters, but there's no voice. Free: 30 messages a day.
3. WetDreamsNative Russian, an 18+ service. Pay through Lava, a Russian Mastercard or crypto. Guests get 10 free messages, and you can make your own characters.
4. VluvviHas Russian, pay by card or SBP. A catalog of 642 characters, photos in chat from 1,699 rubles. Explicit content is hidden by default and can be turned on in settings.
5. RPDateHas Russian. You pay per reply, from 1 to 1.75 rubles. Pay via SBP, Telegram Stars, crypto or a card through Stripe. Claims an uncensored mode after age verification.
6. HoneyChatHas Russian, pay with Telegram Stars, crypto or cards. Five levels of explicitness, with full 18+ starting at the 1,500-ruble plan.
7. SpicyChatEnglish interface, prices in dollars: voice on the $29.95 plan, images from $19.95. You can pay through Boosty, crypto or a card. Explicit content is allowed by the community rules, and you can make your own characters. It loaded on every network in our test, although in summer 2026 people on GitHub complained it wouldn't load without a VPN.
8. my-idol.ruOur service. The interface is in Russian and English, and characters reply in either language, whichever you choose. They include heroes from anime, movies and books plus originals. Characters remember the conversation, speak with a voice, come together in group chats, and you can create your own in the builder. 18+ characters live in a separate section that opens only after age verification.

We checked two more services but left them off the list. CrushOn loaded on only two networks out of eight. Janitor AI and Character.AI answered our automated test with bot protection, so we can't say anything about their availability. If you're leaving because of the filter

No service is completely rule-free: every one has bans that no setting can get around. Explicit scenes are allowed on SpicyChat, RPDate, HoneyChat's top plan, and Vluvvi once you turn it on in settings. Likoteka bans that kind of content. Where others might suit you better

Honestly: some services have a bigger catalog than ours, and some let you write your own model instructions for a character, swap bots with other users, choose the language model or install an app from a store. Before you switch: three checks

1. Save your characters. No service can import them automatically, but you can copy the description and first message and paste them into the builder at your new home. How to do that is in how to create your own AI character.
2. Test the Russian. Send a character a couple of long messages with a joke and some slang: you'll see right away whether it's native or translated.
3. Read the terms of service. Especially the parts about auto-renewal and refunds.
