This is a breakdown of money and access based on data as of August 2026, not a guide to getting free coins. Let's settle the mod question right away: your balance lives on the server, and a modified APK showing a six-figure number on screen breaks on the very first purchase, because the server sees the real zero. More on that in Polybuzz hacks.

Why iPhone purchases fail

You see "Purchase could not be completed" and assume the app is broken. In reality, the request never even reaches Polybuzz; the App Store declines it. There are usually three reasons, and they stack:

  1. The cardApple doesn't process payments from Russian bank cards: not Mir (Russia's national card system), and not most Russian-issued Visa and Mastercard. It has nothing to do with the app.
  2. The Apple ID regionIf your account is set to one country and your card was issued in another, the store will decline even a working card. That's a standard rule, not a glitch.
  3. Screen TimeContent restrictions can accidentally block in-app purchases. Then the pay button silently does nothing anywhere, not just in Polybuzz. Checking takes a minute.

The website isn't any easier: payments go through a foreign payment gateway, and Russian cards don't work there either. That leaves intermediaries, foreign virtual cards, and App Store gift codes. They work, but with a noticeable fee and only until the next rule change. Every time, you pay twice: for the coins and for the ability to buy them.

Coin economics: where the money goes

Coins aren't a subscription; they're a consumable. Instead of a fixed monthly amount, you pay for every action and keep a running tally in your head the whole time.

The problem isn't so much the price as the unpredictability. A long scene burns your balance faster than casual chat, and you can't tell in advance how much an evening will cost. Then a mechanic familiar from mobile games kicks in: you stop talking and start saving. You write shorter messages, cut scenes off at the best part, put off the rest until tomorrow.

Blurred messages are a story of their own. A reply arrives, but part of it is hidden, and you have to pay to read it. Technically, it's all above board. In practice, it feels like you get stopped right when things got interesting.

What can be fixed and what can't

  • Fixable: Screen Time restrictions, which you turn off in Settings. A sign-in glitch, which you fix by signing out of your Apple ID and back in. A region mismatch, if you have a legitimate payment method in your account's country.
  • Not fixable from Russia: a Russian card won't work in the App Store no matter how many times you sign in again. Everything else is a workaround through third parties, with fees and no guarantees.
  • Not fixable, period: a consumable stays a consumable. Even with payment sorted, you'll still be counting coins.

If Polybuzz works but your character keeps slipping into English, that's a different problem, covered in Polybuzz in Russian.

What to use instead of Polybuzz

my-idol.ru runs in the browser and accepts Russian cards directly, with no app store, no intermediaries, and no extra fees. You can start for free.

  • Characters reply in English or Russian, whichever you choose: heroes from anime, games, shows, and books, plus original characters.
  • Extra features like voice, images, or a call with a character cost energy, and the price of each is shown on the button before you tap. No surprises at the end of the evening.
  • Character replies aren't hidden behind a blur you have to buy your way past.
  • Conversation memory and group chats with several characters.
  • An editor for building your own character.

Where Polybuzz is stronger: it has a huge catalog and a mobile app. If those are what you need, that's a fair argument in its favor. Other options are collected in Character AI alternatives, and what you can do without paying is covered in free AI chat.
