Four kinds of "free"

  1. A permanent daily limitYou get N messages every day, they refill, and no card is needed. This is the most honest option: you can use it forever, just a little at a time.
  2. A free trialEverything's unlocked for a few days, then access shuts off completely. If they ask for a card up front, you'll almost certainly be charged once the trial ends.
  3. Free text, paid mediaYou can chat, but images, voice and video are locked. Technically free, but it feels like a demo.
  4. Free sign-upRegistering costs nothing, but by your third message you're staring at a payment screen. Not a scam, but not a free chat either.

Two signs you can spot before signing up: do they ask for a card at the door, and do they tell you what happens when the limit runs out? A card before your first message almost always means a trial with auto-billing.

What to check besides the message count

  • How the limit resets. At midnight, or 24 hours after your first message. What matters is that the rule is written down, not something you have to guess.
  • Whether the limit shrinks over time. Some apps are generous the first week, then quietly cut it in half. Check whether a base number is actually stated.
  • What happens to your history. If the conversation resets every time you log in, free messages are pointless: the character has to meet you all over again.
  • Whether memory gets cut. Some apps also trim how much a character remembers on the free tier. You keep writing, and it can't even hold on to your name.
  • What you pay with instead of money. Ads between messages and daily "quests" for in-app currency are a price too, just not in cash.

What's free on my-idol.ru

No asterisks, as of October 2026:

  • 25 messages a day. The clock starts at your first message: 24 hours later, your limit is full again. No card needed, and the limit never shrinks.
  • Every character in the catalog: anime, movie and book characters, plus original stories.
  • Memory and history. Your conversations are saved, and the character remembers your name and what you talked about. Memory works the same on the free tier and on Pro.
  • Group chats with several characters, plus a builder for creating your own character.
  • 15 energy ⚡ as a gift once you confirm your email.

What costs energy

Images and voice cost a lot more to produce than text, so they're counted separately, in energy. The price is shown right on the button before you tap it.

  • have the character read a reply aloud: 5 ⚡;
  • ask the character for a selfie: 10 ⚡;
  • peek at the character's thoughts: 1 ⚡.

What Pro gets you

Pro is one-time access for a set period, not a subscription that auto-renews: 3 days for 179 rubles, 7 days for 349 rubles or 30 days for 899 rubles. It removes the message limit, lets characters write longer replies, lets you change a character's voice, and lets you dictate messages by voice. Each purchase also comes with a little energy. When it runs out, you simply go back to 25 free messages a day, and your chats stay put. Current prices are on the pricing page.

Why free plans exist at all

Not out of generosity. Every message is a call to a language model, and that costs money, voice and images even more so. The daily limit is the line where an app gets to show what it can do without going broke on people who are just looking around.

Which leads to a simple conclusion: if an app promises unlimited chat with no ads and no payment forever, either the replies come from a very cheap model (you'll notice the quality fast), or they'll get the money some other way.
