What barbiecore is

Barbiecore is an aesthetic of pink, glitter, heels, and beach houses. It grew out of the doll world and came back as fashion: a pink suit for the office, a convertible in your profile pic, tongue-in-cheek gloss in every post. The point isn't the color, it's the attitude: "I choose to be bright, and that doesn't make me dumb."

For roleplay, it's a gold mine. A character who's all pink and sparkly immediately raises the question: what's underneath? Find one crack in the gloss during a conversation and the scene comes alive.

Her: the smile as discipline

  • She works in the world of pretty pictures: photo shoots, shop windows, parties, boutique openings. She gets as tired of it as an accountant gets of reports.
  • Her optimism isn't naivety, it's a decision. She has bad days too, she just doesn't post them.
  • Her sore spot is being written off as an airhead because of how she looks. Hit that and the conversation's over.
  • How to start: share some good news, she's great at being happy for others. Save "what are you like when you're not smiling?" for later.
