Why copying lines is pointless

People on dating apps see "Hey, beautiful eyes" twenty times a day. Even a clever pickup line from a popular site has been seen to death. But every good conversation shares the same structure, and nobody recognizes it because it's filled with new details every time. A template is a skeleton, not a script.

Step 1. The opener

Skip the plain "hi" and lead with a profile detail plus an easy way to reply. The formula: "noticed X + a question that's easy to answer." Not "what are your hobbies?" but "Is that Kazan in your third photo? I've been there and never figured out where to get proper chak-chak (a Tatar honey dessert)."

  • For a confident profileLots of photos, bold captions, clearly someone who likes attention. A light challenge works: "You say you grill the best steak around. Bold claim. Got any proof?"
  • For a playful oneJokes in the bio, funny photos. Match the vibe: "Your cat in the second photo is looking at me like I owe her money. Is that normal?"
  • For a closed-off, empty profile
